Our background
Westgass began in 2016 as a physical gas trading business and grew to supply 10TWh per year into European markets by 2021
That operation was sold, forming the foundation for our expansion into industrial development.
Today we develop sustainable industrial assets and are re-entering energy trading with a broader mandate and a stronger base.
Leadership
Peter Mellbye
Peter is a former member of the Equinor Executive Committee, where he served as EVP of Natural Gas and International Development & Production, and the former Vice-Chair of Statkraft.
Kinar Kent
Kinar has over 20 years experience in international energy markets. He is a co-founder of Westgass, and has served as CEO since 2021. He previously held senior business development and trading roles at Equinor and Shell.
Arne Åkerlund
Arne is a co-founder of Westgass with 40 years commercial and technical experience from senior roles at Equinor, E.oN and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate
